GHM Masonry believes that a shortage of skilled craftspeople throughout the UK has highlighted the need for strong action to prevent further erosion of our skills. This is why we are working alongside Historic Scotland and ICON.

By way of year long placements in both conservation and stonemasonry. We feel that previously too much emphasis was put on the actual cutting and dressing of stonework without proper knowledge of how to build, restore and conserve.

Our apprentices' are trained in all aspects of masonry and given constant onsite training in the act of cutting, dressing and building. This is also the case with our placements and also our additional training done through the Scottish lime centre.
